Hike Utah

By:Megan

Although the unpredictable mountain weather has seemingly gone from winter to now over 90 degrees and skipped spring altogether, summer is finally here. One of the incredible perks of living in Utah is the vast array of gorgeous hikes that lead to many of Utah's natural wonders. My husband and I made it a goal this year to go on at least 2 hikes a month to explore the many hidden beauties of this wondrous state. I've been researching Utah hiking for sometime now and have come up with our queue of must do hikes by the end of the summer:

1. Mount Timpanogos- I've lived in Utah for over four years now and have still not hiked the massive wall that borders northeast side of Utah valley. It towers at 11,749 feet and supposedly has some of the most amazing wildlife and flowers to be seen along the Wasatch front. Most people say August is the best time to do this hike. 2. Stewart Falls- Ever since our honeymoon in Hawaii, my husband and I have developed an obsession with waterfalls. Stewart Falls is an easy hike and is supposedly one of the most beautiful falls in Utah (double tiered and over 200 feet tall). 3. The Narrows- This is supposedly one of the most popular hikes in Zion National Park and runs along the Virgin River. Hiking guides say to expect to spend 60% of your time in the water (about knee deep) but sometimes it can get a little deeper depending on rain levels. 4. Navajo Loop Trail- This is one of the most popular hikes in Bryce canyon and takes visitors down the rim from Sunset Point, through the narrow corridors of Wall Street, past the Silent City, past an intersection with Queens Garden Loop Trail, and the top of Peekaboo Loop Trail, before ascending the rim of the amphitheatre again at Sunset Point. 5. Delicate Arch- This is your postcard opportunity. Delicate Arch is the most recognizable arch in Arches National Park and has been on magazines, postcards, mantle pieces, etc over the years. Round trip this trail is only 3 miles and is not strenuous. 6. Brighton Lakes Trail- This trail is at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon east of Salt Lake City and starts behind the Mt. Majestic Lodge. The trail is about 2.5 miles and climbs to Lake Mary, Lake Martha and Lake Catherine.

The Main Street of Salt Lake City carries with it much national history and beauty. Recently the government has invested in the restoration of Main Street to maintain the beauty and uniqueness of the architecture found here. Main Street is the cultural centre for the state. Concerts and other special events occur here annually.
